Reiki for U of C College Students

With midterms fast approaching, we received a number of invitations to offer Reiki at college Wellness Fairs this month. We’ve been to U of C before, serving the medical school. This time it was an all-school Wellapallooza in the Hogwarts-like Reynolds Club.

Favorite feedback:
”I felt like you were pulling something out of me.
My sinuses are clear. My chest feels clear.”

There was more snickering and condescension at this event than I’d experienced in years—ironic given we’d been at the Police Academy the day before. But we were able to work on 38 students and those who tried it were overwhelmingly enthusiastic.

Several came back later with friends, to urge them to sit in a chair for ten minutes and experience Reiki. You gotta love a solid convert!

Someone from Planned Parenthood pointed out to me that they and we were the only non-University based groups at the event. Inclusion!

Attendees were also invited to make their own smoothie with a bike-powered blender—a yummy reward!

Thanks U of C for having us, and to volunteers Sophie, Suzanne, Alex, and Jana. Skeptical people benefit from Reiki, too!
